With Jonathan Calleri on the way, West Ham have a new striker.
It might not be the big name they were hoping for when the transfer window opened, but at least it’s some kind of reinforcement to please Slaven Bilic.
However, the arrival of the Argentinean forward hasn’t put to bed the many rumours surrounding the London club and their apparent need for more goalscorers.
Corriere dello Sport are the main culprits on Wednesday as they suggest West Ham are still maintaining a strong interest in Inter Milan’s Eder.
The Italy international, who was part of Antonio Conte’s squad for the 2016 Euros, isn’t assured game time if Inter Milan sign Gabriel Barbosa from Santos, which the Italian newspaper seem to think is becoming more and more likely by the day.
They say an offer of between €13-14m should convince the Serie A club to let the former Sampdoria star go, which West Ham shouldn’t have too much trouble affording. Especially with the lower amount converting to around £11m.
We’ll have to wait and see if West Ham stop their striker hunt now, or if Calleri is the signing they’ve been waiting for all along.
If that’s the case, this story means very little.
