Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport report Sergio Barila has a meeting pencilled in with West Ham on Tuesday. Barila is Carlos Bacca’s agent and a deal for the striker to move could be agreed.
The Italian media now roundly agree that West Ham and AC Milan have reached a mutually pleasing price of €30m (around £25m) for Bacca, after the English club had an initial €25m offer refused.
Milan are really keen to swap Bacca for a big pile of cash this season, which doesn’t mean he’s been a complete failure. The problem is Vincenzo Montella’s playing style, and the fact it doesn’t suit Bacca.
Montella wants a more mobile striker, and therefore Bacca is being edged toward the exit. The player himself would have preferred a move to Spain, where he excelled for Sevilla, but a fee of €30m for a 29 year old is probably putting clubs off.
