Romelu Lukaku returned to Chelsea last summer, after the west London club invested in excess of €100m in taking him away from Inter Milan.

The striker has managed 10 goals in all competitions this season, out of which five have come in the Premier League. Having scored three goals in the first two months, he added two more to the tally in December.

Lukaku has scored twice for the Blues in this calendar year and both of them came in the FIFA Club World Cup, against Al Hilal and Palmeiras.

Last December, the Belgium international told Sky Italia he remains open to rejoining the Serie A winners. Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin is of the belief the former Manchester United man could return to the San Siro on a loan deal in the summer.

“He was a magnet last season, all the balls pass by his feet. It is sensational to think about how many balls he touches at Chelsea. Maybe he’ll be back on loan next season,” Biasin told Calciomercato.it’s CMIT TV

“I think it is correct to speak of a possibility [Sassuolo’s Gianluca] Scamacca in front, on him a chip has been placed. But Marotta and Ausilio are two old foxes, they know that a more ready striker is also needed to play at great levels. So, they are also thinking of something else.”

It’ll be interesting to see whether Thomas Tuchel’s side will be willing to let Lukaku return to Inter, even on a temporary deal, if the Nerazzurri make an approach for him in the next window.
