Tottenham Hotspur currently find themselves 16th in the Premier League, two places below Manchester United.
The two clubs see the Europa League as the way to save their seasons, and could face each other in the final in a fight for the trophy and a place in the Champions League next season.
There’s been a lot of pressure around Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, with a section of Spurs fans quite clearly being at the end of their patience with the Australian.
Should his side win the Europa League then it would surely be difficult to fire him, but there’s already a line of potential replacements being linked in case he is shown the door.
One of those is Niko Kovac, who is 6th in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund. He arrived in January and his own position has come under question on occasion since then.
Der Westen explain he’s a more secure at the moment and they cover claims from England of Tottenham interest… before largely dismissing the possibility.
According to the German newspaper, ‘it currently seems unlikely’ that Kovac will leave BVB. The manager ‘feels comfortable’ where he is and those in charge at the club are satisfied with his performance.
Therefore, a move to Tottenham is not expected.
