If all the Bruno Fernandes stories weren’t exciting enough for January, we’ve now got some rather bold claims coming out of Italy regarding Manchester United’s interest in Kalidou Koulibaly.
In fact, according to Italian journalist Fabio Santini, speaking on the TV show Il Processo on the station 7 Gold, a deal is already done for the Senegalese defender between the Premier League side and Napoli.
Relayed by Area Napoli, he said: “Napoli will sell Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester United for a figure of around €70-75m. It seems all done. Naturally, such a deal will be closed only in June and certainly not in January in the winter transfer window.”
Now, we’ve had a look around and we can’t find the original video for this.
It doesn’t help that 7 Gold’s website hasn’t been updated since June and the one for the show Santini was on, Il Processo di Biscardi, is currently under maintenance.
However, this has been picked up by a number of Naples based websites, such as the above Area Napoli as well as Mundo Napoli, suggesting something was said.
The last claims from Santini we covered (back on December 18th) did turn out to be all correct, seeing as he reported Carlo Ancelotti would end up at Everton and that Arsenal preferred Mikel Arteta to the Italian to succeed Unai Emery.
Then again, he also stated Real Madrid wanted to buy Son Heung-min for €70m, so…
Personally, we would recommend taking these Koulibaly claims with a pinch of salt for now until more surface.
