Ander Herrera’s contract at Manchester United will expire at the end of the season and he’ll be available on a free transfer next summer, if the Red Devils fail to tie him down to a new deal.
According to AS, ‘it seems clear’ the midfielder will not renew his contract at Old Trafford, meaning there will be several options for him to pick after his current deal runs out.
Atletico Madrid and AS Roma are linked with him, while the 29-year-old could return to Athletic Club Bilbao with a new scenario in place.
He didn’t consider rejoining the Basque side if Josu Urrutia was still the president of the club and his term will be over at the end of this year.
It’s claimed that other presidential candidates could use the Manchester United player as an election trick and some of them have already contacted him as he could re-sign for the La Liga outfit either in January or next summer.
AS also goes on to mention Herrera’s potential move to Bilbao could be jeopardised if Jose Mourinho is shown the exit door, but based on the recent form, it is unlikely there will be any talk of the Portuguese tactician’s sacking.
