For the first time with the Norway national team since joining Burnley, Sander Berge today spoke to his home country’s media about the move.
The midfielder joined Vincent Kompany’s side on a €13.9m move from Sheffield United this summer, and is still getting used to his new club in England.
Speaking to Nettavisen, Berge was very much asked about his work under the Burnley boss, and claimed he’s been seeing a huge difference in his daily work since joining the Clarets.
“It is an extreme change in everyday life,” Berge told Nettavisen.
Kompany continues to be known as one of Pep Guardiola’s pupils, and Berge claims there’s indeed some characteristics which link the former Manchester City defender to the Spanish boss.
“Here you seek perfection in the game and work on every little detail. It is an advantage to work under a coach who has been captain under Pep and seen football that way.”
“The way we work in training and outside of training is fascinating. It makes your head start to think, and you see football in a different way.”
Following a tough start in the Premier League, Burnley are currently at the bottom of the table, with three defeats in three games.
They’ll be back in action in the match against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on the 18th of September.
Until then, Berge will be focused on the international break, where they’re first facing Jordan in a friendly, and then Georgia in the Euro qualifiers.
