Dutch attacker Memphis Depay made a big money move to Manchester United in summer 2015, but things haven’t really gone down well for him in England.
The former PSV winger has failed to impress Jose Mourinho this season, and has only 20 minutes in the league under his belt.
There is a doubt over Depay’s long term future at Manchester United, but Serie A side AS Roma could provide him a way out of the current mess, reports Calciomercato.
AS Roma star Mohamed Salah is set to depart for the African Cup of Nations in January, and other injuries in the squad hav forced the Serie A club to look for possible replacements in the transfer market.
Calciomercato say Memphis Depay is Luciano Spalleti’s ‘secret desire’ for January.
Manchester United still value Depay at around €23/24m and that could be an issue for AS Roma, who would want to sign the 22-year-old on loan, with the option to make it permanent.
While it remains to be seen if such an offer would be tempting for Manchester United, it does look like Depay’s future lies away from Old Trafford.
