Reims’ Hugo Ekitike has been on Newcastle United’s agenda since the January transfer window.
On June 1st, we carried a report from Foot Mercato, who explained the Magpies and the Ligue 1 side have ‘reached an agreement’ for the striker.
It was also stated the 19-year-old will have to ‘quickly pack his bags’ to make a switch to Newcastle United.
TuttoMercatoWeb have now come up with a report and they partially back up claims made by Foot Mercato.
TMW also state there is an agreement between the two clubs for €35m plus an additional €10m as potential bonus payments. However, Newcastle United have a ‘problem’ and it is the stance maintained by the attacker.
It’s said the France U20 international has ‘no plans to accept the transfer’ to Eddie Howe’s side. In addition to this, he is also on Paris Saint-Germain’s summer target list.
With two sources stating that Newcastle United have ‘reached an agreement’ with Reims, they must now put all their efforts into convincing Ekitike, for the deal to take shape.
Ekitike managed 11 goals and five assists from 27 matches in all competitions during the 2021/22 season.
