It’s the turn of the Portuguese press to confirm Reading’s interest in bringing Ola John back to the club.
The news were first broken by the English press, and now Portuguese newspaper Record claim Jaap Stam wants the 25-year-old. According to their short story, the Dutch manager wants John to add some ‘creativity’ to the squad.
Ola John spent an year on loan at Reading during the 2015/16 season, where he managed four goals and five assists in 33 games.
Since returning to Benfica last summer, the player was sent on a loan to Wolves, where he spent the first half of last season, and then changed clubs to Deportivo La Coruña.
Now he’s clearly not part of the Lisbon side’s plans, and hasn’t managed a single minute so far this season
As his contract runs until 2019, it shouldn’t be hard for Reading to get another loan deal with Benfica.
Convincing them with a loan fee and the player’s salary should be enough for Jaap Stam to get the winger.
