Sevilla midfielder Steven Nzonzi has a €40m release clause in his contract.
On July 23rd, France Football reported Arsenal are in talks with the La Liga outfit to try and reduce the price.
Estadio Deportivo are now claiming the north London club are ‘pressing’ to sign the World Cup winner, who wants to leave the Spanish club this summer.
The report echoes what was mentioned by the French outlet, which is the Gunners are not willing to pay the buyout clause for a player who will turn 30 later this year. The English club are also ‘squeezing’ to lower his asking price.
Nzonzi’s father will pocket €5m when his son leaves Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but the Andalusian club side want the midfielder’s father to waive the fee so that his price tag can be reduced.
Estadio Deportivo, however, don’t mention what Nzonzi’s new valuation will be or the fee Unai Emery’s side are willing to pay Sevilla to acquire the player’s services, but they’d surely be prepared to drop it by at least €5m.
