Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer has spoken ahead of Norway’s clash with Spain and described the Mestalla as the second-best stadium he’s played… after Celtic Park of course.
Ajer was in the Celtic team which was beaten 1-0 by Valencia earlier this season in the Europa League.
Speaking to Abc Nyheter, the Norway international was asked about his experience playing at the Mestalla in UEFA competition: “It’s the second finest stadium I’ve played on, after Celtic Park. It is an incredible stadium and not least a good pitch. Yes, the crowd sits incredibly close, and it can be a wonderful atmosphere.”
The Celtic defender has become a regular in the Norwegian national squad and his performances for the Scottish champions this season have helped.
The youngster is in line to make his seventh appearance for his country against Spain and he’ll be also in contention for the clash with Sweden next week. Ajer is highly thought of in Norway and has been tipped to be a future captain of the national team.
Under Brendan Rodgers, the 20 year old cemented a place in the Celtic starting eleven, which has continued since the reappointment of Neil Lennon a few weeks ago.
Ajer has started 15 league games this season for the Hoops, including the last 5 matches.
