Alex Sandro to Chelsea is very much one of those rumours in which anything claimed becomes accepted fact, without anyone really caring if it’s true or not.
Once Chelsea interest in the Brazilian fullback was taken as genuine, every claim then seemed to be within the realms of believability, and was continually exaggerated.
Many English takes on Italian claims were exaggerated beyond their original meaning, and then taken up in Italy again to push the transfer rumour a little further.
Given all of that, now it’s time for a Sandro renewal to be spoken about, Chelsea are of course right in the thick of it. That had first been claimed in Italy, then taken up in England, and now it’s back with Gazzetta dello Sport.
Antonio Conte is said to be watching on, still with a keen interest in the Juventus player.
Gazzetta say Chelsea made two offers during the summer window, one of €60m and a second of a colossal €68m.
With at least some of the claims being bluster, it’s impossible to know which category that falls into.
