Starting back when José Mourinho was in charge at Manchester United, the Red Devils’ interest in Nikola Milenković has never really gone away.
It might have gone quiet here and there, but it appears the Premier League side have always kept an eye on the Serbian over the years, and the centre-back’s performances have piqued their interest again.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who look at Inter’s desire to sign the Fiorentina star in the summer, whose contract with the Serie A side expires in 2023.
A target for West Ham last summer, Milenković’s move to London Stadium eventually collapsed at the last minute, which allowed him to extend with the Italians by another year in hope of getting a bigger move this summer.
That appears to be on the cards, as both the aforementioned Inter and Manchester United are keeping tabs on him.
Gazzetta state Fiorentina will ‘hardly be able to get him to sign a new contract’, and ‘English suitors have also grown’, as ‘scouts from Manchester United have appeared at the Franchi, while the big Italian players also remain vigilant’.
It’s made clear ‘Inter are there’, as they believe the ‘€15m investment’ needed to get him is ‘feasible’, and if that’s the case for them, it very much will be for the Old Trafford side too.
Certainly something to keep an eye on, especially as Harry Maguire continues to struggle at the heart of the Manchester United defence, where reinforcements could be arriving sooner rather than later.
