‘The Scottish option’.
This is how Gazzetta dello Sport refer to Odsonne Édouard on Thursday when look at the players Milan are looking at to help out and eventually replace Zlatan ibrahimović next season.
Seen as the ‘third candidacy’ behind Dusan Vlahovic and Gianluca Scamacca, the Celtic star already has the benefit of knowing the Swede, having met him during their time together at Paris Saint-Germain.
Milan ‘have a card’ up their sleeve in Diego Laxalt, currently on loan at Parkhead following the decision from Neil Lennon to bring him in for the season.
The Uruguayan is seen as a ‘possible partial counterpart’, knowing full they would have to spend money on top of the left-back to acquire Édouard.
With 81 goals and 36 assists in 163 appearances for Celtic, the Frenchman is certainly more prolific than the other two, but has the disadvantage of not knowing Serie A.
We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this, but Milan aren’t letting go of the Scottish club’s star anytime soon.
