Having spent a small chunk of their near unlimited pot of money in January, Newcastle United have turned things around quite impressively over the past couple of months.
Eddie Howe, who has just been named the Premier League manager of the month, has worked near miracles considering how dire the Magpies’ situation was when he took over, and it can only get better from here.
The arrivals of Kieran Trippier, Matt Targett, Chris Wood, Bruno Guimaraes and Dan Burn have all been key in this improved form, and should they avoid relegation, which they appear to be well on their way to doing, then this summer will only see them get stronger.
Calciomercato have an article on Newcastle on Friday, naming the January transfer window and recent changes ‘a small masterpiece’ for a club they predict are ‘preparing to become one of the giants of world football’.
They will spend money to do that, and the website admits the club are ‘scary again on the transfer market’, especially when clubs such as Milan and Inter will be vying for similar players in the coming months.
Sven Botman is one that springs to mind immediately, but the likes of Darwin Nuñez, Boubacar Kamara and Matthias Ginter are also all named.
Basically, Newcastle are expected to be a force to be reckoned with next summer, and that doesn’t bode well for the less wealthy Serie A sides.
