The European sport media currently has more rumours about Chelsea transfers than any other club.
Maurizio Sarri’s arrival has only served to increase the claims swirling around and at Sport Witness we could employ someone full time to simply cover Chelsea claims, but so much of it seems to be guff.
Therefore we’re picking out the more interesting slants, and Gazzetta dello Sport slip into this category on Saturday.
The grand old Italian newspaper reports Sarri is going shopping and has three targets at Juventus, the efforts for each go ‘in strict alphabetical order’.
First up is Daniel Rugani.
The defender is said to be the closest to a Stamford Bridge move, however, Chelsea’s €40m isn’t enough for Juve. That’s despite it being claimed repeatedly in Italy that such a figure would do just fine.
Now Juventus are said to want an extra €10m. There’s confidence a deal can be found, and Rugani will double his wages at Stamford Bridge.
Gazzetta report developments are leading to the point that Juve and Chelsea will ‘sit down at the table’ to discuss the striker’s transfer. The London club’s ‘problem’ is that they’d have to sell Olivier Giroud, Michy Batshuayi and Alvaro Morata, or at least a couple of the players.
Finally, it’s Miralem Pjanic.
Gazzetta don’t take Manchester City’s denials of interest to be true, and it’s then stated Barcelona and Chelsea would be willing to offer €80m for the player. Such a figure would make Juve weak, and then it would be up to the player himself.
This all seems optimistic on behalf of Juventus and Chelsea may not be quite as keen to fill the Turin club’s coffers as is being insisted.
