Manchester United are not the only Premier League club being linked to Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic in these last days of the transfer window.
Chelsea are also interested in the player, according to the Italian media today.
Website Calciomercato claims that Chelsea are keen on taking the 24-year-old from Spain, as Maurizio Sarri plans to bring more quality to his midfield at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri and Chelsea are said to have agreed on the target, but Real Madrid aren’t interested in letting him go. Earlier this summer Kovacic spoke to the Spanish media and made it clear he wants to leave.
Calciomercato claims that club president Florentino Perez hasn’t even put a price on the player, as he’s simply not selling him, and has ‘built a wall’ around the Croatian international.
Besides Chelsea, Calciomercato also names Roma, Inter Milan and Juventus as the other sides who are interested in Kovacic. They don’t have a word about the Manchester United chase, which was pushed by Marca on Wednesday.
