Santiago Castro has replaced Joshua Zirkzee perfectly at Bologna, despite them initially signing Thijs Dallinga to do just that, and he’s subsequently caught the attention of Everton, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Arsenal.
The South American striker has three Serie A goals and an assist so far, with certain sections of the Italian press comparing him to Lautaro Martinez.
Those impressive performances have brought more attention towards the Argentine, who arrived at the club in the summer of 2023.
Corriere dello Sport today report there’s Premier League interest in the 20-year-old, with Everton and Aston Villa keeping tabs on the player.
The two other clubs that get a mention are Chelsea and Arsenal, who are also attentive to the striker’s situation.
The report reveals that Castro looks up to Inter Milan’s Martinez, and hopefully can see him progress further. A January exit is quite unlikely and if any move materialised, it will probably happen next summer.
Everton might need Castro more than any of the other clubs as they could lose Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the next few months.
Aston Villa have two striker options in Jhon Duran and Ollie Watkins and it is difficult to see why they would need another player in that role.
