RB Leipzig are considering a move for Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer as they seek replacements for Ibrahima Konaté and Dayot Upamecano.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who say the Celtic man has been added to the Bundesliga club’s list of options.
Leipzig need at least one new centre back this summer after losing Upamecano to Bayern Munich and Konaté to Liverpool.
Their number one target is VfL Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix, but ‘a new lead leads to Scotland’ and particularly Celtic’s Ajer.
He is entering the final year of his deal at the Scottish giants this summer and has been heavily linked with a move away as a result.
Bayer Leverkusen have long been linked with a move, but there is also interest in the Premier League, where the 23-year-old has several admirers.
It’s believed that a ‘sale this summer is likely’, with newly-promoted Norwich City even believed to have made of offer of around €12m.
His list of admirers is long, and now Leipzig can be added to it, with them ‘intensively looking for fresh forces’ after losing their centre-back pairing this year.
