According to Russian website Championat, Lokomotiv Moscow are interested in signing Leicester City defender Filip Benkovic.

It’s reported that Lokomotiv are in the market to sign a central defender, and they could make a loan offer to Leicester for the Croatian centre back.

The 23 year old is currently on loan at Championship side Bristol City, where’s made eight league appearances.

Leicester City paid €14.5m to Dinamo Zagreb to sign Benkovic in 2018, and the player had a loan spell at Celtic last season, before returning to the Foxes last summer.

This season Benkovic struggled to get regular game time under Brendan Rodgers, with him preferring the likes of Çağlar Söyüncü and Jonny Evans ahead of him, prior to his January loan exit.

Benkovic’s contract with Leicester City will expire at the end of June 2023. However it seems he may need make a decision over his future when the transfer window opens, given the lack of chances he’s been getting with the Premier League side.
