On Friday, we covered claims from Italy that after seeing their initial €10m offer for Billy Gilmour rejected, Napoli were set to return with a new bid.

The value of that was put at €12m plus potential bonuses, and there was confidence it would be enough to convince the Seagulls.

Saturday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport again looks at Antonio Conte’s desire for the player and what Napoli are doing to get him. As far as the famous old Italian newspaper has it, once the Serie A club get to €13m, ‘the deal can go through’.

They had been waiting to sell other players before moving for Gilmour again, but it appears Conte is agitating in the background and wants some signings in quickly. That’s entirely typical of the Italian manager and he won’t be afraid to share his anger if his recruits don’t arrive.

However, as we said yesterday, the figures just don’t seem high enough unless Brighton are feeling especially generous. The situation should become clearer in the coming days.
