Despite not playing any minutes in the defeats to Turkey and Austria in this international break, Brighton’s Pascal Groß has been earning plenty of praise this week.
Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann was keen to highlight the strengths of the Brighton star earlier this week and German icon Jürgen Kohler has continued that today.
The world and European champion has today sat down with the likes of Fredi Bobic and Olaf Thon to discuss the current national team and what they need to do moving forwards ahead of hosting the Euros next summer.
There has been a lot of talk about what Nagelsmann needs to do get Germany back on track, with demoralising defeats to Turkey and Austria in this break raising more questions than providing any answers.
The main debate is regarding whether they need to sacrifice talent for hard work and energy, something Nagelsmann hinted at this week.
He pointed out Brighton’s Pascal Groß as the perfect man for that, praising not only his work ethic but what he brings to a team on the pitch in comments earlier this week.
Kohler has followed that line today, insisting Germany need to ensure that players like the Brighton man are now regular starters.
“(He’s a player) who does the dirty work,” he said.
“He runs like a devil, is inconspicuous but decisive. You need these players because we are good going forward. That’s why I don’t see anything bad for the European Championships.”
