With ESPN Brasil running special stories ahead of the North London derby this weekend, they’ve managed to interview Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Moura.

Despite having scored some very important goals for Spurs, the Brazilian still hasn’t found the net against the Gunners. He was asked if it’s about time he does so, and talked a little about it.

“I know the importance of this game, how much the fans expect for this game, that they want to win, how seriously they take it,” Lucas Moura told ESPN Brasil.

“It’s an objective. Of course winning the derby is more important. But being able to score in a game like this we know is more special. Very important to score in all games, but in a derby against opponents like this is even more special.”

Speaking of important goals, Lucas Moura obviously commented on the Champions League semifinals against Ajax from last season. He claims that to this day, Tottenham fans still speak to him about that game.

“At the moment we had no dimension of what we did, the proportion it would take.

“In the street, fans always come to talk about that game. Today I see a lot more fans with my shirt. It also greatly increased followers on social networks. It is very gratifying to know that you are loved in the club where you play.”

Regarding his identification with the club, Lucas Moura was asked about what he likes most about Tottenham. That’s when he’s praised Mauricio Pochettino’s style, saying it suits his skills very well.

“I think the intensity we propose. It’s a team that, when we steal the ball, the coach mainly asks the fast players to run, not waiting for the ball at their feet. The midfielder or defender stole it, you already run. ‘Run, run, run’ is what he says straight. So this is my feature.

“I’ve always been a speed player who likes to accelerate. So I have to know my main characteristics to help the team. Run in the empty spaces, run behind the defence. Because with the quality of the players here, they will find me. So if I make the correct move, I will come face to face with the goal.”

Moura has one goal and one assist in Tottenham’s first three games of the season so far. He started in two of these matches, and now expects to have a chance to score against the Gunners on Sunday.
