On Thursday, the Spanish media were confident Manchester United’s Antony would soon be on his way to join Real Betis. It was stated yesterday’s Europa League clash against Rangers was his last tie with the Red Devils.

Indeed, they’ve been confident all week that Antony travelling to Seville was imminent, and yet he’s still in the UK.

Diario de Sevilla report the La Liga side have agreed a deal with both Manchester United and Antony. Despite this, the Red Devils haven’t sanctioned a move because of Ruben Amorim.

The 24-year-old has been limited to three starts this season and none of those were in the Premier League. Although he isn’t a key player, the manager wants Manchester United to retain him until they secure a replacement.

The newspaper states: ‘This shortage of attackers, precisely, is what motivates Amorim not to unblock Antony’s definitive departure.’

Manuel Pellegrini’s side still expect the Brazilian to arrive in the coming days and aren’t ruling out he could travel today, although that may be optimistic.

Over at ABC Sevilla, they state the Andalusian club are waiting for the former Ajax man. Amorim initially asked Manchester United to not let the Brazilian leave until after the clash against Rangers.

They insist Antony will travel to Seville in the next few hours for medical tests with Real Betis.

ABC Sevilla haven’t taken into account Amorim still needs to give the green light, which he hasn’t yet given.
