Manchester City midfielder Rodri was operated on in Madrid today and will be out until the end of the season.
That’s according to AS, who say the Manchester City midfielder was operated on by Doctor Manuel Leyes today after suffering a serious ligament injury against Arsenal.
The newspaper reports that the Manchester City star underwent successful surgery today in Madrid on the ligament injury he suffered in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last weekend.
After several days of consultations and diagnoses, Manchester City announced earlier this week that the midfielder had damaged his right knee, and it would require surgical intervention.
They chose Dr. Manuel Leyes to carry out the procedure, which was done today. Rodris is said to have ‘placed his trust’ in the surgeon, who has also worked on Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao.
The Spanish international will now spend several months recovering. Initial scans had initially been ‘quite optimistic’ at the end of the clash with Arsenal but tests the following day revealed a possible rupture of the cruciate ligament.
Rodri then travelled to Spain to go ‘through the hands of different doctors’ and the decision was eventually made for him to undergo surgery.
He is expected to miss the rest of the season although it has not been ruled out that he could play right at the end when Spain will be in the final four of the Nations League and Manchester City in the Club World Cup.
