Earlier today, we covered a story from France claiming that Monaco had seen their first offer for Boubakary Soumaré turned down by Leicester City.
In search of a new midfielder following the huge sale of Aurélien Tchouameni to Real Madrid, the principality club turned their attention to the Foxes player, who never really managed to fully convince Brendan Rodgers last year.
That’s why the Leicester manager ‘wouldn’t oppose the sale’ of the Frenchman, as reported by L’Equipe, who back up the aforementioned claims from Foot Mercato.
With similar figures to boot, the newspaper reiterate that the Premier League side turned down a €15m package from the Ligue 1 side, who ‘intend to return’ with a second offer.
Leicester, who paid €20m for Soumaré, would be open to letting him leave, but ‘would like to recover their investment’.
However, AS Monaco, despite their money, ‘aren’t disposed to reach’ that figure of €20m, meaning that ‘negotiations will continue around a second offer’, but the club have also ‘activated other avenues’ for a new midfielder.
Just in case…
