On Wednesday, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo had Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves on their front page. They had a big interview with the player, mostly asking about his past at FC Porto and his curious move to Championship club Wolves.
And it seems the outlet took things further at Wolves, because today they also bring an interview with defender Roderick Miranda.
Despite signing from Rio Ave, Miranda had once been at Benfica’s academy. And his time at the Eagles is the main subject of the chat, with the interview being put in the Lisbon side’s section of the newspaper.
One of the questions was about a possible return to Benfica, and Miranda didn’t really want to make any promises: “This is not something that bothers me, I want to continue to evolve here in England, where there is the most exciting league and where everyone wants to be.”
And although a move to Wolves and the Championship was not considered a great transfer for him in Portugal, Miranda made it clear to say that joining Wolves could be better than staying at first division side Rio Ave: “The Championship is one of the most competitive leagues in Europe and the largest players supplier of the English first-tier.”
“All games are very closely watched, stadiums are full, so it’s not a setback. We have to be realistic: I would have less chance of playing in the Premier League if I played for Rio Ave.”
