Out of the Dutch duo of Robin van Persie and René Hake, it’s obviously the former who left better memories at Manchester United.

Arriving from Arsenal in what was a very controversial deal at the time, Van Persie won the Premier League with Manchester United, a trophy he wasn’t able to pick up with the Gunners.

René Hake arrived at Manchester United from Go Ahead Eagles in July 2024, to work as an assistant under Erik ten Hag. He left with the manager and has been waiting for a new opportunity since.

1908.nl report Feyenoord have now started the process of recruiting the pair, with Van Persie ultimately getting the managerial role and Hake being his assistant.

Hake is a free agent after Manchester United paid compensation to Ten Hag’s backroom staff, but Van Persie is currently manager at Heerenveen and negotiations will have to take place to free him from his contract, although it’s not thought that will be an issue.

1908.nl make it clear the situation is concrete and there’s a belief the pair can be recruited quickly by Feyenoord.

Intriguingly, and something that will raise an eyebrow or two among Manchester United fans, Feyenoord are said to have contacted the SEG agency, who represent both men, to kick the process off.

Feyenoord this week secured their passage to the next round of the Champions League, knocking AC Milan out in the process. They split with manager Brian Priske a week ago.
