AS Monaco have identified Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi as one of their targets to improve midfield in the winter market.
Edson Álvarez was also on their list, but West Ham United’s refusal to negotiate a deal has seen them shift their focus to Ndidi.
L’Equipe reported this last week, and they stated the Ligue 1 side are considering signing the Leicester player on a loan deal with an option to buy.
Africa Foot backs up Monaco’s desire to sign the 28-year-old and state they have shown a firm desire to try and secure his services in this window.
Wonder Sports represent the Nigeria international and a source from the agency has now provided an update on Monaco’s interest.
Adi Hütter’s side have already made contact with Ndidi’s representatives and the Foxes over a potential deal. A source from Wonder Sports claims Leicester’s decision would have convinced the former KRC Genk man to continue at the King Power Stadium.
“They [Monaco] enquired about the status of Wilfred and were serious in their intention to present their offer,” a Wonder Sports source told Africa Foot.
“They have contacted us and his club, but Leicester feel he is still an integral part of their team. We didn’t object because we respect Leicester, but we also think it’s the right decision.”
Ndidi made 16 appearances for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side this season and has been on the sidelines with a hamstring injury since December.
