It hasn’t been the best summer for Wolverhampton Wanderers fans, seeing players be sold and few bought in return.
This even led to Julen Lopetegui publicly criticise the situation, making it clear he wanted more investment in the squad, but the latest news might not be what he, or the Wolves fanbase, wants to hear.
That’s because L’Equipe are claiming that Paris Saint-Germain, in the middle of a squad rebuild as they prepare to likely offload Kylian Mbappé, are interested in a player contracted at Molineux.
That player is Matheus Nunes, who only joined Wolves last year from Sporting CP for €45m, and is managed by, you guessed it, Jorge Mendes.
The French newspaper bring us wind of that in an article focusing on Ousmane Dembélé’s likely transfer from Barcelona to the Ligue 1 side, where they state that the Brazilian is ‘also in the sights of Luis Campos’, who is the man in charge of transfers there.
He has a very close relationship with Mendes, and that’s why he’s looking at the likes of the Wolves midfielder and Bradley Barcola to improve the Paris Saint-Germain squad.
Considering Wolves spent €45m to get Neves in the first place, you would expect them to ask for a lot more, especially with four years left on his current contract.
Then again, who knows with Fosun these days.
