Ricardo Pereira’s €25m move to Leicester City was pretty straightforward compared to many transfer deals.
The Portuguese media reported the Foxes were interested, then very soon the claims of a done deal emerged. As those claims were then doubted by media close to the Premier League club, Pereira himself was pictured at the airport about to fly to England for his medical.
Leicester paid the €25m, the medical checks were fine, and Pereira joined the club.
So far it’s going really well. The 25 year old is a regular for Claude Puel’s team already, and one of Leicester’s best performers in the current season.
He’s very happy with the move and has been speaking to Record in his home country ahead of the Boxing Day match against Manchester City.
“Playing in England is incredible – the atmosphere… there are always great games and it’s non stop, not like in Portugal where there’s more patience – and, despite having arrived a short time ago, I see how united the club is.”
The future of Pereira’s teammate Adrien Silva continues to be a big story in the Portuguese media, and Record wanted to get some words on the player’s difficult situation at Leicester: “You have to respect the coach’s choices, but he has shown quality in training.”
That’s very much sitting on the fence, and understandable.
