Never really impressing as much as hoped during his time at Marseille with his brother André at his side, Jordan Ayew’s long stint at the Ligue 1 side won’t go down in history.

Scoring 22 goals in 147 appearances, the player’s goal to game ratio hasn’t really evolved since, apart from one successful season with Lorient, which led to a transfer to then Premier League club Aston Villa.

Now managed by Steve Bruce, the Ghana international has seen his time on the pitch reduced slightly, coming off the bench as much as he is starting, and Le10 Sport in France say a move away from Villa Park could happen next summer, with a return to Marseille touted.

According to the French magazine, the French club tried to bring the 25-year-old back to the Stade Vélodrome from Aston Villa in the summer, to no avail, and that, despite a change of owners since, those in charge of transfers at the club still haven’t dismissed the option of making a move for him.

While no official offer or approach has been attempted so far, the prospect of bringing back at least one of the Ayews could be very tempting for the club.

As for the player, since playing on the wing (which he does at Aston Villa) isn’t exactly his forte, the option of evolving in a more central role at a club he knows well, something Marseille could offer him next season when Bafétimbi Gomis’ loan from Swansea comes to an end, could be all the convincing Jordan Ayew needs.
