It’s that time of the week, the day before the Europa League games and the smack talk has begun.
At least, it has in Italy where Lazio Style Radio decided to have a chat with former Lazio midfielder Fabio Poli ahead of the clash against Celtic on Thursday, as Neil Lennon’s men travel to Rome for what could be a very important game in deciding who goes through from the group and who doesn’t.
The Scottish Premiership champions won their home game at Parkhead, meaning this fixture will be a revenge opportunity for Simone Inzaghi and co., and the retired footballer reckons it should be rather easy, at least on paper, for the Serie A side.
He said, relayed by LazioNews24: “Lazio are so superior to Celtic. The Scots just run a lot. They play with such a relaxed attitude, they know they are poorer. Lazio must not give up. They have great strength and can do something beautiful”.
As Neil Lennon will already know, Ciro Immobile is the main threat for his defence, and Poli believes he could, one day, dethrone Silvio Piola as the club’s record goalscorer as ‘everything he touches turns to gold’ these days.
Lazio will need a win from this game, as anything less would leave them in serious jeopardy of missing out on qualification to the next round, as they currently sit third in Group E, four points behind Celtic after three games.
