With a big game on Saturday lunchtime, Steven Gerrard will be hoping all, if not most, of his squad are raring to go to face Celtic at Parkhead.
Currently sitting top of the table, albeit with a game in hand, picking up all three points would go a long way towards knocking their arch rivals off their perch, and for that to happen, there’ll be a need to field the strongest team possible.
One of the worries over this international break was the fact Borna Barisic hadn’t played in either of the first two games for his country this international break despite being called up.
That raised a few question marks regarding his potential fitness for the upcoming derby, but Rangers and Gerrard will be pleased to know he’s alright.
This is according to Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic, who spoke in a press conference ahead of their game against France.
He said, relayed by RTL.hr: “I hope that Barisic is ready. As things stand, he should start the game. He is rested and ready. We will rest Melnjak, he played two games. In the last one, he fell just before the end, which is understandable because he played for his club before that”.
So, good news for Rangers, but there’ll also be hope Barisic doesn’t overexert himself too much against Didier Deschamps’ men ahead of Saturday’s game.
