As was made acutely aware by some alleged Barcelona interest during the last transfer window, Georginio Wijnaldum is out of contract in the summer.
The Liverpool midfielder has yet to renew his deal at Anfield, which means he’ll be free to talk to any club outside of the Premier League regarding a free transfer from January onwards.
Barcelona, if Ronald Koeman does want a reunion with his compatriot, will likely be front of the queue, as will Inter.
This comes from Corriere dello Sport, who explain the Serie A side ‘is looking ahead to the future’, as it’s stated the Dutchman is a ‘dream’ for them.
Whether this speeds up things at Liverpool remains to be seen, but if Jürgen Klopp doesn’t want his midfielder to leave for nothing in the summer transfer window, something needs to be done.
Then again, it might simply be a case of Wijnaldum wanting to try a new experience away from the Premier League, and Inter can certainly offer that.
