Eric Dier has less than a year left on Tottenham Hotspur deal and his long-term future at the club remains uncertain.
AS Roma are looking at him and on Friday, Romagiallorossa.it stated José Mourinho has specifically requested the Serie A side sign the defender in January.
Calciomercato now state the Giallorossi have met with ‘resistance’ from Tottenham, when it comes to parting ways the 29-year-old, after Micky van de Ven suffered an injury.
Earlier this month, Van de Ven picked up a hamstring injury in Spurs’ defeat to Chelsea, and Ange Postecoglou has admitted the centre-back could be out of action for the rest of the calendar year.
Tottenham’s resistance in sanctioning the England international’s exit has seen Roma target Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior. This is stated by Calciomercato when explaining AC Milan’s desire to sign the Pole.
Corriere dello Sport say Roma are looking at players who could be made available on loan or have deals expiring in 2024. Kiwior belongs to the former and their idea is to sign him on a temporary deal in the winter market.
Dier, who has made only two appearances this season, also gets a mention, and belongs to the second category.
With regards to the Tottenham centre-back, the newspaper questions whether the former Celtic manager will agree to release him in January, after handing the player opportunities in the last two matches.
