Former Manchester United assistant manager René Hake would be a good successor to Hedwiges Maduro at Almere City.
That’s according to Voetbal International journalist Chris Templeman, via FC Update, who believes Hake should be handed the role after Maduro was sacked this week.
Hake remains out of work after leaving Manchester United in the summer when Erik ten Hag was removed from his role at Old Trafford.
He had been a part of Ten Hag’s backroom staff since the summer, brought in as part of a revamp at the time that saw the Dutchman add several of his fellow countrymen to the team behind him.
Hake arrived at Manchester United after years working in various roles in the Netherlands as both a manager, director of football and assistant manager at clubs such as FC Emmen, PEC Zwolle, Twente, SC Cambuur, FC Utrecht and Go-Ahead Eagles.
And Templeman believes that long list of experiences should put him at the top of the list for Almere as they look to replace Maduro, although he’s unsure what the current agreement with Manchester United is after his departure last month.
“I have not yet caught Maduro being a good head coach,” he is quoted as saying on the VI ZSM podcast.
“He was an assistant at Ajax, where he also added little, or so you heard from the stories. I have never understood why Almere City was so keen to go into business with Maduro. It simply did not work.
“I do not know what the agreements are with Manchester United, but I end up with Hake. I think he is a good coach. He can make players better. Whether he is able to get this team out of where they are, that is a difficult task, but I would trust him with it.”
