Football followers over a certain age, and especially Leeds United fans, will remember the days of Tony Yeboah well.
He may have only been at Elland Road for a relatively short period of time, but he did enough during that spell to be remembered as something of an icon at Leeds.
Arriving in January 1995, Yeboah had a big impact on the Yorkshire club, but was shipped out not long after George Graham took over as manager in 1997.
Now 55-years-of-age, the former footballer is also remembered by pundits far away from Leeds, and Fabio Caressa, who works for Sky Italia, believes he sees some of Yeboah in Victor Osimhen.
The Napoli striker is much wanted right now, with claims on Monday of a potential €100m exit in the summer. At figures like that, Leeds are clearly out of the running, but Caressa’s comments are still nice to bring back some memories.
CalcioNapoli24 quote him as saying: “I fell in love with the history of some players! I was in love with Anthony Yeboah, the uncle of the player at Genoa now. He was a formidable player, crazy, a force of nature. He played for Ghana, Eintracht, and Leeds. Osimhen reminds me a little of him, old Tony Yeboah.
“One of the first players for whom I got excited during commentary. A lion, he throws himself on all balls, a technical leader on the pitch and also an emotional one for the team, he’s one of those that pulls you in. I like him very much.”
