It’s started. The transfer window had maybe gone a little stale with Euro 2016 taking the limelight, but it seemed all that was really needed was a break for things to get going again.
The biggest deal so far in the break looks to be Michy Batshuayi moving to Chelsea for around €40m, instead of going to any of the other clubs he’s been more strongly linked with.
If claims from Spain are correct, Chelsea have big plans this summer, which may ease the frustration of some of the club’s fans who were worried about a disappointing window.
Spain’s El Confidencial say that Chelsea, along with Manchester City, have ‘asked for’ James Rodriguez from Real Madrid.
El Confidencial were very good on the Real Madrid exits of Gonzalo Higuain, Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria so they probably deserve a listen.
However, the English clubs will have serious competition. El Confidencial state that PSG have gone straight to James’ agent, none other than Jorge Mendes, and told him the club are about to make an ‘irresistible offer’.
PSG need a new Galactico after the exit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Unai Emery, new PSG boss, is explained to be an expert in recharging careers, and that sounds suitable for James.
It’s stated that Real Madrid won’t accept any less than €65m for the Colombian international.
