As German football journalists go, Christian Falk is right there up at the top for contacts, and subsequently for breaking stories.
With a very close relationship with Bayern Munich, which can sometimes seem too close, Falk heads up SportBild, the country’s leading sport magazine which is from the Bild group.
On Tuesday he’s sent out a simple tweet stating Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are interested in 18 year old Ilay Elmkies. It’s stated the midfielder is currently playing for Hoffenheim’s U19 side, and there’s no other claims regarding the interest.
The story is followed up on SportBild’s website, where it’s explained the player is ‘technically good and strong in battle’.
An Israeli U19 international, Elmkies is 1.71m tall and has been playing in a number 6 role for the Hoffenheim youth team, under coach Marcel Rapp.
SportBild suggest Guardiola may watch Elmkies in action for the German club’s U19 side today, against Manchester City’s equivalent team in the UEFA Youth League.
