Sunderland loanee Jeremain Lens has been a major talking point in the Turkish Press and they are certainly convinced with what they’ve seen from him so far. Lens put in an another fantastic display in Fenerbahçe’s derby win against Trabzonspor, scoring one and assisting another during his side’s 3-0 win.
Fenerbahçe club legend Rıdvan Dilmen said of the Sunderland player, surplus to requirements for David Moyes, on NtvSpor: “I can’t believe it. He’s exceptional. One of the best players ever to come to Turkey. With this level of ability he can play anywhere in the world.”
Now the Fenerbahçe fans are waiting anxiously over Lens’ future and Fanatik have an update on this.
Fanatik says Sunderland are not willing to loan Lens for another season but Fenerbahçe are desperate to get him for next season. Sunderland will want to use Lens’ recent performances as they believe they can make a good profit on a player they signed for €8m. Fanatik says Fenerbahçe have hope that things would change if Sunderland are relegated.
According to Fanatik if Sunderland are relegated to Championship Lens will be allowed to leave for a reduced fee because there is a special release clause in his contract. Fanatik also says Lens will want to play at the highest level before the 2018 World Cup and Fenerbahçe could offer him Champions League football.
Lens has played 11 League games for Fenerbahçe, scoring 2 goals while assisting seven. The Dutch winger has also impressed in the Europa League for Fener with one goal and 2 assists.
