As Jean-Clair Todibo pushes for a move to Juventus this summer, and appears to be snubbing West Ham United interest, Gazzetta dello Sport publish an article on the background and present an explanation for why the player is behaving as he is.
According to the Italian newspaper, Todibo was not against a move to the Hammers some weeks ago. Last month, West Ham made a €35m offer to Nice, €5m of which was made up of potential bonuses, and that was rejected.
The Ligue 1 side wanted a deal worth €40m.
Todibo then saw West Ham move to sign Max Kilman from Wolves, a player they paid more for. That whole situation, according to Gazzetta, left the defender ‘nervous’, and is the reason behind him now pushing Nice to give him exactly what he wants… a move to Juventus.
As far as he sees it, if Nice had wanted to sell him to West Ham then they could have done so the first time the London club made an offer.
Now, he’s prepared to hang on for what he wants. However, given he has a contract with Nice until 2027, the 24-year-old remains at the mercy of what his club chooses.
Juventus are going to have to make a financial effort.
