Reiteration that Pellegrino will become Southampton manager ‘in the next few hours’

 

Marca are sticking to their claim that Mauricio Pellegrino will soon be Southampton manager. The Spanish newspaper announced it on Thursday, which one may believe led to almost identical claims from The Sun.

Whilst it was just a website article from Marca, they’ve followed it up by reiterating the claim in their Friday newspaper. Marca say Pellegrino will become Southampton’s new manager ‘in the next few hours’.

This may be literal, but it’s worth a word of warning to Southampton fans. Phrases like ‘in the next few hours’ and ‘in the coming hours’ can often be put in the mañana, mañana category.

They think it’s happening soon, basically.

Pellegrino coached Alaves last season as they surprised everyone and finished 9th.

That success was built on a strong defence, with only four La Liga sides conceding less.

On the flip side, only three La Liga sides scored less than Alaves last season.
