Christian Eriksen has one year left on his contract at Tottenham Hotspur and had made it clear he’s considering an exit this summer.

He’s been sporadically linked with a move to Real Madrid and Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla reported late on Monday that Atletico Madrid are also trying to sign him.

The report linking Eriksen to Diego Simeone’s side was picked up in Italy, England and Spain earlier today and it looks like Mundo Deportivo contacted Los Rojiblancos to get an update about these claims.

It’s claimed the former Ajax man ‘doesn’t seem to be an option’ for the immediate sporting needs of Atletico.

In addition to this, the role which Eriksen player is already covered at Wanda Metropolitano and their efforts are to strengthen other areas.

Even if the Denmark international is open to a transfer, he will not be available for cheap, which is another reason why Atletico wouldn’t be pushing for Eriksen.

Mundo Deportivo are polite when rubbishing this story, but they still rubbish it.
