Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is once again highlighted in the Italian media.

Even though Tuttosport’s interest is in Juventus’ chase for the player, most of the information they’ve got is on the reasons the Premier League side are letting him leave this summer.

The newspaper claims that José Mourinho, who they believe had already transfer listed the Frenchman last season, now wants him gone as the focus is to sign Nabil Fekir from Lyon.

But besides a new place in the squad, the club would also have financial reasons to get rid of Martial. The deal with Monaco means United would have to pay €10m in case he reaches 25 caps for France, and other €10m if he makes it to the best 50 in the Ballon d’Or.

To avoid spending that money, the club think it’s better to let him leave, and if possible to a foreign side. That’s why Juventus are said to be ‘the most likely’ destination for now.

Regarding Chelsea’s interest in the player, Tuttosport claims that Man United asking for Willian was a polite way to say ‘No, thanks’, and avoid selling him to a rival. The same elegant strategy was used when demanding Raphael Varane as Real Madrid tried to sign David De Gea.

But although Juventus are said to be leading the race for Martial, the newspaper is still to give any details on how advanced the talks are. They just make it clear that his future seems to lie far away from Old Trafford.

With Tuttosport being a Turin newspaper, they side with their local club. Martial moving to Juventus is seen as exciting in Italy and is talked up constantly, always with the claim that Mourinho is pushing the player out.

As for Nabil Fekir, that’s an interesting tangent.
