Early on on transfer deadline day, it was reported in France that West Ham United were interested in signing Layvin Kurzawa.
The Frenchman is hugely out of favour at Paris Saint-Germain, and there was hope he could find a landing spot, with the Hammers among those at the front of the queue.
The problem there, however, was that David Moyes’ side needed to ‘unlock other files’ to get this over the line, but there was still hope he could leave in the last few hours of the transfer window.
Well, that didn’t happen, and RMC Sport explain why, revealing that despite West Ham ‘validating’ his profile, they needed to offload Arthur Masuaku before they could sort out a move for Kurzawa.
The DR Congo international is firmly behind Aaron Cresswell in the pecking order at the London Stadium, which is why a move away for him to be replaced by the Paris Saint-Germain man would have made sense.
However, he stayed put, as did Kurzawa, leaving Moyes with the similar left-back pairing to see out the season.
