It was last week that reports from the Brazilian media claimed Manchester United and Flamengo found a deal for the permanent transfer of Andreas Pereira.
Reliable outlets said the clubs had been exchanging documents for the Rio de Janeiro side to buy the midfielder for €10.5m, and it was only a matter of time until the announcement was made.
It turns out there’s been a complete change about the situation in the past few days, and ESPN Brasil now features a story explaining why it will take a little longer before Flamengo make it official.
As soon as the red and black side buy Pereira and agree a new contract with him, it’s said the Brazilian FA should take around five days until having him registered once again.
Flamengo are playing Atlético-MG in the Super Cup at the weekend. That’s their first big game of the year, and they obviously don’t want to risk having Pereira unavailable.
So the club will wait for the next week until they complete the process. It’s once again claimed they’re sorting the ‘final adjustments’ with Manchester United, who’ll keep 25% of a future transfer.
