Former Leicester City midfielder Gokhan Inler has spoken his about his time at Leicester City, and what he now wants to achieve as a Besiktas player, to the club’s official TV Channel BJK Tv.
The 32-year old said: “I’m supporting Besiktas since my childhood. I’ve grown up with watching Amokachi, those were great days. I pushed very hard, tried everything to join Besiktas and eventually I did it. I’m very happy, I thank all to fans, our president and officials at Leicester City for making this transfer happen.”
Inler also spoke about Leicester and said: “Last season was wonderful for the club and the fans. It was really amazing (to win Premier League) Although I couldn’t contribute as much I like to do, it’s still a wonderful feeling. I come to Besiktas as a Premier League champion and this is a great thing.
“I also thank Ranieri I couldn’t say bad words about him. He’s right not to play me because of the great combination in midfield. I respected his decision.”
Inler also said he is relishing facing his old club Napoli at the Champions League: “I knew we’d draw with them. It’ll be great games. Hopefully we’ll do well and qualify for the knockout round. With the help of our fans I think we can do very well this season.”
Reasonable, considerate, understanding of a manager’s decision, and genuinely grateful with a transfer to the team he supported as a boy… a great first interview at Besiktas from Gokhan Inler.
