As has been reported throughout the Dutch media over the past few weeks, there is a feeling that Arsenal are interested in Cody Gakpo.
The Dutchman is having a great season for PSV Eindhoven, scoring 17 goals and picking up 15 assists in 38 games this season, and with the Gunners looking to bolster their attack, Mikel Arteta appears to have put his name on a list.
In fact, there have been many who believe a move to Arsenal would be ideal for the player, who is clearly ready to take the next step in his career, judging by his domination of the Eredivisie to date.
A move to the Emirates could be on the cards, and that’s something De Telegraaf journalist Rinus Israel thinks would be great for Gakpo.
Putting him in his team of the week, he added, relayed by FC Update: “The noises about a transfer to Arsenal? That would be really nice. The pace is higher there, and he has to act even faster: that only makes him better.”
Capable of playing both on the wing or up front, Gakpo could be the ideal replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who cancelled his contract with the Gunners in January before heading off to Barcelona.
We’ll have to wait and see what Arsenal’s plans are going forward, but with this many feeling this would be the right move for him, perhaps it’s time to make it happen.
